Lauren Coughlin's bid to climb the leaderboard at the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open hit some rough patches Saturday, as the American carded a 2-over 74 at Dundonald Links to fall from a share of fourth into a tie for sixth.

Coughlin, who opened the third round at 4-under 140, finished at 2-under 214 through 54 holes, 10 shots behind leader Jenny Shin's 12-under 204. One round remains at the par-72 layout.

The 33-year-old, a three-time LPGA Tour winner, started steady on the front nine, opening with pars on the first two holes before a double bogey on the par-5 third dropped her to 2-under. She answered with back-to-back pars through the sixth before birdies on the seventh and ninth pushed her back to 4-under at the turn, where she posted a 36.

The back nine proved more difficult. Coughlin picked up another birdie on the par-4 13th to reach 5-under for the tournament, but a bogey on the par-3 15th and a double bogey on the par-4 16th erased that momentum, sending her to 2-under. She played the final two holes in par to close out the 74, a back-nine 38 that offset her steadier front-nine work.

The setback comes during a breakout season for the Virginia native, who won the Aramco Championship earlier this year for her third career LPGA Tour title. Coughlin, an Epson Tour alumna, has made seven cuts in 12 starts in 2026 and enters the final round ranked fifth on Tour in strokes gained approach at 0.99 — a stat that has driven much of her season's success.

Coughlin already holds a piece of history at Dundonald Links: She won this event in 2024, one of two LPGA Tour titles she captured that season alongside the CPKC Women's Open. Saturday's result leaves her well outside contention for a repeat, though a strong closing round could still move her up the leaderboard.

Shin leads by a wide margin entering the final round, and Coughlin will need a low number Sunday to make a late push. Her track record at Dundonald Links and her approach-game strength this season give her a path back into the mix, even from 10 shots back.

Coughlin returns to Dundonald Links on Sunday for the final round, looking to close out the week on a stronger note after a third round that undid much of the progress from her first two days.
