The sixth edition of the Buick LPGA Shanghai begins a new chapter for the tournament in the People’s Republic of China as it heads to a new venue for 2026. Sheshan Golf Club welcomes 81 of the top-ranked players in the women’s game, including 15 members of the China Golf Association, who will compete in the no-cut event for a purse of $3.2 mil. Here’s a look at the groups to watch during the opening rounds in Shanghai.

Thursday, 8:36 a.m., 1st tee - Minjee Lee, Jenny Bae, Mi Hyang Lee

Minjee Lee returns to competition for the first time since the FM Championship as she looks to find a spark during what has been a challenging season for the 11-time LPGA Tour winner. Lee, who was third last year in Shanghai, made her last cut on Tour in June at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Bae is on a run of good form as she heads into the closing stretch of the season with top 10 finishes in her last two starts. She was tied for fourth in her debut in Shanghai in 2025. Mi Hyang Lee was a winner earlier this season at the Blue Bay LPGA and will be hoping to close out her year with the same sort of success she showed early in the season She is coming off a tie for 56th in her last start at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.

Thursday, 9:53 a.m., 1st tee - Angel Yin, Patty Tavatanakit, Ruixin Liu

Winner of the Buick LPGA Shanghai in 2023, Yin will be looking to get her game back on track as she settles back into life on Tour after a prolonged absence during the summer due to an undisclosed illness. Yin missed the cut in her last two starts. Tavatanakit returns to Shanghai with four top 20 finishes so far this season. Liu will make a long-awaited return to the Tour as she will make her first start since withdrawing from the Meijer LPGA Classic in June. She was tied for 26th in Shanghai in 2025.

Thursday, 10:37 a.m., 1st tee - Rose Zhang, Celine Boutier, Miyu Yamashita

Zhang is making her third appearance in Shanghai and looking to continue the momentum she’s shown in the latter half of the season with top 10s in her last two starts on Tour. Zhang was tied for eighth at The Standard Portland Classic and tied for fourth at the FM Championship. Boutier, already a winner this season on the LPGA Tour with two more top 10s this year, was tied for 31st in her last start at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Yamashita is making her second appearance at the Buick LPGA Shanghai where she was tied for fourth in her debut in 2025. Yamashita is already a two-time winner this season on the LPGA Tour at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give and CPKC Women’s Open.

Thursday, 10:48 a.m., 1st tee - Jeeno Thitikul, Ruoning Yin, Yealimi Noh

In 2025, Thitikul won in thrilling fashion at the Buick LPGA Shanghai by defeating Minami Katsu on the fifth hole of a playoff. Thitikul will be one to watch again this week as she returns to Shanghai with four victories in addition to six top 10 finishes already this year on the LPGA Tour. And she’s on form in the closing stretch of the season with top 10 finishes in eight of her last 10 starts. Her close friend, Yin, will play alongside her during the opening round. Yin won the Buick LPGA Shanghai in 2024 and like her friend, is also in form, as she won in her last start on the LPGA Tour at the FM Championship. Noh rounds out this group as she returns to Shanghai for the first time since 2024. Noh was tied for 15th in her last start at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
