Arpichaya Yubol came within one stroke of her first LPGA Tour victory Sunday, closing with a 5-under 67 to finish tied for second at 21-under 267 at The Standard Portland Classic. Yubol, who began the final round in a share of the lead, finished alongside fellow Thai Chanettee Wannasaen, one shot behind Jeeno Thitikul at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

The result continued a remarkable week for Thai golf. Thitikul, Wannasaen and Yubol swept the top three spots, while five Thai players finished T10 or better. It marked the first time since the 2021 Honda LPGA Thailand that three Thai players occupied the top three positions in a standard stroke-play LPGA Tour event, when Patty Tavatanakit finished tied for third.

Yubol opened Sunday with a birdie on the par-3 second, then added three consecutive birdies on Nos. 5-7 to quickly establish herself in the final group. She made the turned in 32 at 20-under and remained within striking distance of Thitikul as the back nine began.

A bogey on the par-5 12th hole briefly dropped Yubol to 19-under, but she steadied herself before finishing with a flourish. After four straight pars, she birdied the par-4 17th and then rolled in another birdie at the 18th to close with a 67 and move back to 21-under.

Yubol played the final round alongside Thitikul and Sophia Schubert, and the competitive atmosphere never appeared to diminish the enjoyment of the moment.

“It’s pretty good week for me. I can say like this is the best. You can finish your score like 21-under, that’s incredible,” Yubol said. “Until on the last day I’m play with Jeeno and Sophia in the last group and we play pretty good and have fun a lot with her. Like birdie, birdie, like birdie, birdie so many hole.”

The runner-up finish was Yubol’s third of the 2026 season, adding to solo-second finishes at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba and the ShopRite LPGA powered by Wakefern.

For Yubol, the repeated close calls have become less a source of frustration than a reminder of how close she is to breaking through.

“I can say the best year for me,” Yubol said. “Like every time like too close, just a little bit. You know, I’m do my best on my game every shot. Like this week, too. Like on the last day I do my best and she do her best, too. So just one stroke, so, yeah, it’s golf.”

The image of finally lifting an LPGA Tour trophy is becoming increasingly tangible for Yubol. After another runner-up finish, she plans to carry that belief into the remainder of the season.

“I can see my image in my head, like with the trophy, like too close,” Yubol said. “So just keep doing like what you do. Just keep thinking like positive and then like enjoy with your game.”
